MAGGIE & JIGGS. Extremely rare pair of plaster-composition type nodders of George McManus' famous comic strip couple. 1920's vintage, Made in Japan - company logo is embossed into back - looks kind of like a smiling face. She stands 5" tall. Interesting, they do not have springs. There is a horizontal wire across the interior of their head which rests inside notch on top of their neck - similar to the notch of an arrow where it fits the bow string - their heads rock back and forth quite nicely. There is paint wear to JIGGS back, otherwise pair is near mint to mint. No cracks, no chips. First set that I have ever seen or heard of. the pair: 695.00

She is also pictured on the outside top of the lid. Her name is repeated over and over along the edge trim. She appears again in full color on the front panel of the box. c.1929 BETTY BOOP "tattoo" sheets, Japanese made, 3 ½" by 8" sheets. Wow, are these great. 3 different, mint/unused "tattoo" or decal sheets. I believe these were originally those things kids would "wet" and then stick to their skin to make a tattoo? I'm not really sure. All I do know, is that they are really good looking! Classic kid's stuff from back then. One sheet is just BETTY, the others have BETTY BOOP, MINNIE MOUSE, POPEYE, CHARLIE CHAPLIN and other comic characters, INCLUDING some Japanese comic characters from back then. Great artwork, great colors. Many of the poses are in traditional Japanese dress. I have included one close-up scan! Each sheet measures approx. 3 ½" by 8". The average transfer is about 1" by 1".
